"Invernal is the second full-length San Francisco, CA-based doom sludge duo Black Cobra have released with Southern Lord... (What) sets Invernal apart is its aural temperature. Much of sludge is associated with heat: liquid tar, bubbling pitch. Black Cobra have made something cold. The sound is thick and gelid, in the way that some liquids increase in viscosity before they freeze. Invernal is hypothermic." - Exclaim "Black Cobra’s “Invernal” is a well put together mixture of industrial, thrash, and classic metal without indulging to deeply into any, giving the album a very unique sound that’s almost hard to categorize... Every second is full of energy and depth." 4/5 - Metal Underground "Invernal holds no tricks or left turns as to what we've come to love about the big-riff guitar duo, eight tracks of bulldozing sludge accompanied by a pounding drum assault. There is no dimmer switch for a band like Black Cobra, only off-and on... and that's definitely what we love about them." - Brooklyn Vegan "Black Cobra are neither playing savage for savagery's sake à la Lair of the Minotaur nor being tempted by artier ambitions like a Baroness, and while they may still show an obvious debt to High on Fire, their songs, by and large, are far too memorable in their own right for anyone to confuse inspiration with plagiarism - especially after nearly a decade of work and four albums this impressive, among which Invernal stands especially tall." 4 stars - All Music Guide
North is a dark and aggressive act that balances the experimental flare of post-rock with heaviness and gloom of sludge. They have toured and played all over the United States multiple times with such acts as Caspian, Rosetta, This Will Destroy You, Constants, Weedeater, Braveyoung aka GIANT, Lymbyc Sysytm, 65 Days of Static, Knights of the Abyss, My America, Adai, and much much more. "North... punishing, dynamic, and heavy as all hell." - Alternative Press "What You Were is all onslaught, smartly detonating triumphant melodies beneath the collapse and crush." - Decibel "North... crushing, down-tuned walls of sound, throaty vocals, slowly developing song progressions, and rewarding climaxes." - Lambgoat

Tucson Underground says, "Singer/guitarist Hank Topless revels in reptile-booted, over-the-top country singer fashion..." It is this fashion sense mirrored in the type of music Hank peddles: some of the best honky-tonk and classic country tunes ever penned and some damn-well written originals too. These odes are delivered with one of the sweetest country voices in Arizona, possibly the Southwest.

"Following the artistic breakthrough of 2009's See Mystery Lights, Yacht's second album (Shangri-La)... continues to mine a fruitful blend of new wave, dance-punk, and playful electro-pop, this time with a slightly tighter, poppier focus." 4 stars - All Music Guide "Ironic jape or not, Shangri-La captures the DFA label aesthetic perfectly, blending electro post-punk, disco and art-pop with conceptual elan, and icing the cake with dance-friendly production." 4 stars - Uncut "There's a strong air of the post-punk '80s, and at the same time, the album's driving rhythms make it more DFA-like in spirit, like they're taking up part of the mantle of the now-defunct LCD Soundsystem, perhaps." - Pop Matters "Even in the context of what is turning out to be a stonking year for electro-pop, YACHT have concocted a record to match their peers in Metronomy, Cut Copy and Friendly Fires." 8/10 - Drowned In Sound "With Shangri-La, YACHT takes us away from this crumbling, radiation-leaking, bomb-launching reality on a fuck-all magical mystery tour of chimerical musical landscapes laden with beguiling beats and sparkling synthesizers that leave us dancing in the face of doom. " 4/5- Consequence Of Sound "YACHT... (is) The most exciting avant-garde outfit to flourish since The Knife." - NME "If dance is the religion YACHT's preaching this summer, consider us converted." - Boston Globe “YACHT... precisely programmed digital ear candy” - Rolling Stone
"Onuinu (pronounced “ON-yu-in-you”)... music falls within the vein of what has been called chillwave, or glo-fi, which is a particularly fresh and likeable sound first popularized by bands like Washed Out and Neon Indian. Drawing heavily off of 80's new-wave and synth pop for melodies." - Be Portland
