Jamie O'Brien comes from a London-Irish family; he was there in the 60s, he left England in the 1980s and has spent most of his life in Europe and the US. You can hear all his travels and experiences in his music. O'Brien has been compared to musicians like Irishmen Gerry O'Beirne and Luka Bloom and George Kahumoku from Hawaii: guitarists who not only write their own songs but also delve into traditional repertoires.

The hard-driving sound of the Collin Shook Trio is a fresh departure from the Tucson jazz scene. The Trio's first album , Derivatives, features eleven of Collin's own originals with their signature sound: classic Hard Bop from the 1960's, fused with a modern and classically influenced vocabulary and sensibility. The group has had numerous appearances on Local Television, has played all over southern Arizona, and has been performing at all the hot spots in Tucson since the fall of 2010.

"Vanity Theft may be all-female, but this foursome definitely isn’t your average girl group. With catchy guitar riffs, an in-your-face sound, and lyrics that are, ahem, straight to the point, this band is determined to set themselves apart from a sea of frilly pop." - Nylon "Vanity Theft transcend genre trappings and showcase excellent songwriting abilities, while many other bands think style over substance is acceptable, and that stealing the sounds of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark or the Pet Shop Boys make them exempt from thinking about melodies, hooks, or innovation. So, let’s applaud Alicia, Brittany, Elyse, and Lalaine... (who) recall the darker synth-pop of Depeche Mode and New Order in a refreshingly modern, not at all plagiaristic fashion, with spot-on vocals and a chorus that kills." 8/10 - Pop Matters "Vanity Theft’s Get What You Came For has earned a spot in my summertime rotation when I can sing it on the top of my lungs while driving to the beach with the top down. Is it July yet? *sigh*" - The Owl "Vanaty Theft... (create) perfectly constructed little three-minute nuggets... It may not be life changing, but it's pop music with a youthfully naive tough girl sneer, and if it worked for The Runaways and Tegan & Sara, then why not for Vanity Theft?" - Ink19
Enemies aka guitarist and singer Aaron Lee Tasjan, began last September as a fully realized representation of 26 year old Tasjan's music. As one of the most sought after guitarists in New York, Tasjan has filled the roll of lead guitar for everyone from The New York Dolls to most recently, Alberta Cross... Now Tasjan takes center stage under the moniker Enemies with his new record Desolation Dream. The album was produced by Adam Lasus (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, PJ Harvey, Yo La Tengo), and is a raw collection of buzz-snap, cough syrupy, fuzzed out songs that are also remarkably melodic. "Enemies!... A bit like drinking a bottle of cough syrup, lighting yourself on fire and sitting down to relax." - ALT-Me "Enemies!... kick ass rock music." - The Examiner

"...Music Video? stands out in a crowded field of electro-pop groups with their strong sense of melody, flawless production and surprisingly fresh use of synths and samples" - NPR

"Local singer/songwriter Amy Rude can do the full-band country-rock thing better than your average hip Canadian hack, but My Love Is a Velvet Farm sounds more like creative freak folk that several of our own homegrown musicians play: breathy, blended off-key vocals, sparse instrumentation, casually strummed guitars and the feeling of sitting in the backyard and playing for the creosote." - Tucson Weekly "What makes Snakeheart and Rude so loveable resides in both the imperfection in the live feeling of the album and Rude's knack for melody and drawled delivery that makes every song ultimately hummable. Rude sounds somewhere between a female Will Oldham and a feminine early-nineties Stephen Malkmus with extreme back porch, lo-fi leanings." - Venus
"Heavy layers, piling powerful vocals and muscular arrangements on top of each other until its seems like the end result just might crush you, but there’s no way you’d ever want to turn away from it all. Thanks to a die-hard tour schedule, the Shondes garnered a substantial buzz before releasing their debut The Red Sea. Being hailed for their riot grrl approach to political songwriting and speculated as being the next Sleater-Kinney, the Shondes have firmly established their footing as a band to watch." - Exclaim "The Shondes... (are) ready for an indie break out... radical politics, inspired riffs, textured hamonies and pure sex appeal." - Curve "The Shondes... riot girl and queercore bands of the '90s, traditional Jewish music - their moody songs are redolent of a time in the early '80s when punk fractured into something more tuneful and complex." - The Chicago Tribune
"The Cordials -Laura Kepner-Adney on guitar, Cristina Williams on bass, and Courtney Robbins on drums - are the female trio for which Tucson has been subconsciously pining. Self-described as 'pepper pop surf grunge,' The Cordials draw from many styles, sounding like a merry blend of a spaghetti Western soundtrack and Best Coast. Kepner-Adney takes the lead with songwriting, and she has terrific sensibilities when it comes to catchy riffs and novel flourishes. Kepner-Adney and Williams harmonize beautifully—equal parts grace and grit, an exquisite blend that will leave your eyelashes a-flutter, and your toes tapping." - Tucson Weekly

"Alcoholic Faith Mission have defined their position on the musical spectrum by refusing to define it: theirs is a collaborative, improvising approach, tracks often practiced minimally and recorded only once... The result is a trademark sound both considered and spontaneous, songwriting both immediately gratifying and gradually revealing, all helped along by production skilful yet hands-off." - Music OMH "Alcoholic Faith Mission’s third album has much in common with their Canadian counterparts like Broken Social Scene and Arcade Fire." 7/10 - Consequence Of Sound "Alcoholic Faith Mission won’t revolutionize a genre this crowded but... they’ve certainly landed a promising square on the indie-chessboard." - Skeleton Key
"You Won't... a straight sprint from Vampire Weekend back to the Shins." 7/10 - Spin "Skeptic Goodbuy... the perfect post-winter pop album.” - Pop Matters "You Won't... a retro pop sound with a folksy Leonard Cohen edge." - Nylon "You Won't... (creates) hooks that infiltrate every of part of your body." - My Old Kentucky Blog
The Vases are a alternative/indie/psychedelic band known for their blistering guitar solos, and pop tendencies. Over the last 2 years, The Vases have performed in venues across Arizona and California. Formed in 2010 by Colin Sams and Nate Zeligman, The Vases have created dynamic songs with powerful riffs and a touch of shred. It wasn't until their drummer, Jeff Ceresnie, joined forces with the duo that they found the sound that can be heard on their upcoming debut LP, Manic. The album is set to be released Friday, April 27th at Plush where The Vases will be playing the album in its entirety. The Vases will also be gearing up for a tour this summer in Arizona, Nevada and California.
